3 Before you configure the add-ons

Create a new Firefox profile for accessibility tools. This way, the extra tools do not interfere with your normal browsing. You can do this by starting up firefox with an extra argument. In a command line prompt, or use the Windows “Run...” interface, type the following command:

firefox -ProfileManager

This does nto start up a browser, but rather the profile manager of Firefox (well, duh!). The profile manager lets you perform a few useful operations.

If you don’t have a special profile for accessibility analysis, you should click “Create Profile”. You can use any name for “new profile name”, but I suggest using something like ‘Accessiblity mode’. Next, click “Choose Folder”. I suggest that you create a new folder and select that as the directory to store all the user-related data.

Then, click “Finish” to complete the process.

Once you have a profile set up for accessibility purposes, you can double-click it in the Profile Manager to start Firefox using that profile.

It is nice to be able to start up different instances of Firefox using different profiles at the same time. This allows you to use one for your regular use (going to the course site and etc.), and use the other one to assess accessibility.
