3 TCP/IP

Once we take care of the physical layer (to load the proper driver module), we need to take care of the basic networking configuration. Regardless of whether a server is setup for intranet or internet access, the most commonly used networking protocol is TCP/IP.

This section provides a brief discussion of TCP/IP. It is, by no means, a detailed treatment of the topic. For more information regarding TCP/IP, you are encouraged to take a networking course that is dedicated to the discussion of TCP/IP.
