Run ifconfig eth0 to check the current status of the eth0 interface. A “healthy” interface should show the HWAddr (MAC address), inet addr (IP address), Bcast (broadcast address), and Mask (netmask). If all of these settings are correct, the interface should be able to communicate with other NICs of the same subnet.
