3.4 Get a linux installation CD

After the previous step, a hard disk image is created. However, the hard disk image is blank. There is no operating system. The next step is to acquire a CD or DVD that can used to install a baseline operating system.

I will distribute DVDs in the first lab for this purpose. You can also acquire other Linux installation CDs/DVDs. For the purpose of this module, I assume the DVD will be recognized as d: in the host operating system.

Alternatively, you can just download the “ISO” file of a CD/DVD. An ISO of a CD/DVD is an image file that can be burned on a CD/DVD. The advantage of an ISO file is portability and speed.
