3.6 Robotics

Robotics is a special field of embedded systems. A robot is inherently an embedded system. However, a robot is far more complex than the average embedded system. Most robotic systems either have a remote control mechanism, or a fully autonomous control system.

Robotics is a very exciting field due to the possibilities. From explorer vehicles on Mars to cars that can navigate themselves off-road and on-road, there are lots of “cool” robotic applications.

To get into the field of robotics, a bachelor’s degree is an absolute minimum. Many developers have master’s and doctoral degrees.
