3.2 Web scripting

Web scripting makes e-commerce and other web (HTTP) based systems possible. For example, search engines, online stores, discussion boards, and online course management systems all fall into this category.

Although web scripts do run on stationary servers, they typically do not require as much processing power or storage space as a data processing center.

Web scripting differs from data processing programming in one major way: user interaction. Web scripting needs to handle some data processing, but at the same time there is a great deal of effort put into the presentation of data.

Furthermore, the number of web scripting applications also far exceed that of data processing.
