The alt attribute of an <IMG> tag is often known as “alt-text”. This is a textual description of the image. The alt attribute is meant for a short description of an image. This is suitable for small images and icons.
However, for an image that represents a chart, or an image that is somewhat complex, the alt attribute may not be sufficient.
