6.4 Assigning resources to tasks

The team, as a whole, needs to assign people to tasks. The assignment has to be an agreement by all members of a team. It also needs to be documented and signed. I may request this document in the event of a team falling apart and not able to finish the project.

Be careful when more than one members are assigned to the same task. This can, and often, lead to problems. Instead of assigning two or more members to a task, break the task up into subtasks, and assign exactly one member to each subtask. This makes sure there is an understanding of which individual is going to do what. Without individual task assignment, members can misunderstand that ``the other'' member(s) are responsible for a particular portion of a task, and ends up with no one actually doing anything.
