Now that we have conditional propositions, we can have some fun.
Conditional propositions can be chained by deduction so that we can
derive conclusions. Let's have an example.
- if Tak has high triglyeride, he should take fish oil pills
- Tak has high triglyeride
What can we conclude? Tak should take fish oil pills!
Here is another example:
- if Tak has high triglyride, he should take fish oil pills
- Tak should not take fish oil pills
What can we conclude here? Tak does not have high triglyride.
Note that the process of deduction assumes propositions are true.
If an argument (chain of deduction) starts with false propositions, then
the conclusion cannot be guaranteed to be true.
