4 Using Moodle

The main screen of most classes is a weekly schedule. However, you may also find arrangements based on topics. Both arrangements let you follow a class in chronological order.

Activities and resources in Moodle can be found in two ways. First, an activity or resource can be found in the week/topic box that it belongs to. Second, an activity can also be found in the ``Activities'' box close to the upper left corner.

Furthermore, you can also check the ``Upcoming Events'' box (second top box on the right hand side) for upcoming assignment due dates, quiz dates and etc. You should also check items in the ``Latest News'' (upper right corner) box.

To participate in an activity, or view a resource, simply click the activity or resource.

Think hard before you click the upper right corner box of a week/topic. This box controls your view. If you click it, Moodle only displays a topic or week. Although this may come in handy so you don't have to scroll through a long screen, it can also hide important items from other weeks/topics. My suggestion is do not limit your view to a week or a topic.

If you do use a single week/topic view, you have a dropdown box to jump to another week/topic at the bottom of the center column.

There will be other modules to explain how to participate in various types of activities.
