A rich homemade brownie baked in a square pan. Melted chocolate, cocoa powder, and toasted walnuts give these brownies a deep chocolate flavor and soft, fudgy texture. Perfect for sharing with friends or serving as a comforting dessert (12 servings).

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F (175° C).
  2. Cream together butter, sugar, vanilla, and flour.
  3. Melt together butter and chocolate, then stir in sugar, vanilla, and cocoa powder until smooth.
  4. Lightly grease a 9-inch square baking pan and pour the brownie batter evenly into the pan. Set aside
  5. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, eggs, and baking powder until the mixture becomes smooth and well combined. Fold this mixture gently into the chocolate batter.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips and chopped walnuts. Spread the batter evenly in the pan. Bake for 20 minutes. Check the brownies and rotate the pan if needed to ensure even baking.
  7. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips or nuts over the top if desired. Continue baking until the top is set and the center is slightly fudgy. Cool before cutting into squares.
