CISW 370: Designing Accessible Websites

Prerequisite: CISW 300 (Web Publishing) with a grade of "C" or better

Description: This course provides an overview of the methods that are used to design web sites for people with disabilities. Current legal requirements for accessible web sites, especially the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), are emphasized.

Section 3: Learning Outcomes and Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • describe the current legal requirements for designing websites for people with disabilities.
  • compare various tools for the assessment of accessibility of web pages.
  • formulate coding strategies for generating accessible websites.
  • assess the accessibility levels of various types of websites.
  • locate disability and web accessibility resources.
  • test specialized browsers and other Internet software for people with disabilities.
