CISP 371: Intermediate Visual Basic

Prerequisite: CISP 370 (Beginning Visual Basic) with a grade of "C" or better
Hours: 54 hours lecture, 54 hours laboratory
Description: This course in intermediate Visual Basic (VB) programming further examines techniques to solve programming problems. Topics include classes, objects, properties, methods, procedures, functions, hierarchies, inheritance, multiple forms, components, tables, databases, datasets, queries, menus, toolbars, report creation, testing, and debugging.

Section 3: Learning Outcomes and Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • create a plan and a program that provides a solution to a well-defined programming problem.
  • using tables and datasets, create programs that use text files and database files by linking, importing, exporting, and querying with emphasis on SQL.
  • create user interfaces which use multiple forms, classes, objects, properties, methods, procedures, functions, hierarchies, inheritance, components, tables, menus, and toolbars.
  • create event code for objects.
  • create reports using Crystal Reports.
  • build, compile, execute, test, and debug programs.
