4.2 Memory

There is no universal rule to determine how much memory is needed. Generally speaking, more memory means better performance. Instead of scientifically determining the required amount of memory, you may want to consider getting as much memory as you can comfortably afford.

If system performance at peak load is degraded due to the lack of memory, then add more memory to the system. Of course, this assumes that the system can accommodate more memory. Determining the maximum amount of RAM that can be used early can save a lot of trouble later on.
